GlossyBox January 2012 // review

Hey lovelies, so this post is following the band wagon of monthly beauty boxes, the ever so famous and original UK beauty box GlossyBox. For me, I've been eyeing up GlossyBox for quite awhile, trying to decide whether to try or not. When I was given a half price code for it I thought why not. It would normally cost you £12.95 with postage, but I got mine for £7.95. A great saving. You are guaranteed to have at least one full size beauty product and then 4 large samples.

I've always loved the packaging of GlossyBox, this month it's hot pink instead of pale pink. Like every beauty box, it's packaged in tissue paper and a ribbon. So what was inside mine and was it any good?

Now with beauty boxes you aren't going to suit everyone are you 100%? But why ask for a beauty profile to be filled in, when they aren't going to read it? I've been given a cleanser & toner that's for normal to combination when I have DRY skin. And an eyeliner that's in plum when I put down neutrals, purple isn't neutral to me. I love the polish, I've now tested the primer, it's too orange & it seems half my body wash is missing from the tube.

What do you think?

  1. Totally agree! I've not disliked a box so far however this time I'm hoping for certain contents in my box from what I've seen.

I do hope they start taking the profiles into consideration soon! -I've just joined the feel unique box and wasnt very enthused by it at all, so think I'm gonna give it one or two more months and then cancel if it still hasn't picked up x

    1. You seem to get a lot more don't you with Feel Unique? & there's the Jolie box? to try, Carmines my next stop. Since you can buy the box after it's come out to subscriptions :)

    2. Yeah I was thinking of carmine, there is another box coming out soon too so might try that but thats not till march!

I wasn't that impressed with the feel unique, was a bit boring the last one for me lol! Might blog on it as haven't really seen any feel unique posts but it was just a bit boring! I thought the jan box would be amazing, especially with all the contacts they have!x

    3. Yeah blog about it :) Whats the new one? I came across one that you had to sign up with FB so I didn't bother? I think that was new. FU are hardly blogged about, I'd love to see if they're any good.

  2. I think it's wrong of Glossy box to give out 3 different boxes and contents, ranging from £20-£45 (you got the lower end box) some people have got 2 x Clarins samples in theirs amongst other different things!! The weleda sample is worth 95p which to me isn't a luxury sample? I am glad I don't sub to Glossy box, I am waiting to try Carmine too and have been with Joliebox/Boudoir Prive for a while now and all of their boxes have been the same for each customer :)

    1. Thanks lovely for informing me :D It is, I know they can't make everyone happy, but at least take note of their beauty profiles? A cleanser I can't use or my Mum. An eyeliner that will never suit me, half a body wash missing, well it seems and a primer thats a bit orangey for me. I'm going to Carmine I think :)

  4. I always read mixed signals with different GlossyBox posts. My favourite for one off "discovery boxes" is Latest in Beauty. You can see in advance what the box contains and it's half the price. That primer you got looks good though. x

    1. The primer feels good, but it leaves an orange tint on me still :/ I'm pale though. But it's in my beauty profile.

  5. I was subscribed to Glossy Box but was finding that gradually the products I was recieving weren't suited to me at all. Now you point out about that thing you fill out when you sign up makes me think whats the point. I know that they have to have something for everyone but hate it when they have a mixture of products for different people and then loads of people end up unhappy. I don't really think its worth the money considering what you actually get (take the packaging away and it pretty standard)... might try a few other boxes too xxx

    1. Yeh, at first I was like Ooo GlossyBox is here, then slowly tonight I'm like what was I thinking earlier it's only the polish and sort of the primer I like :/ The box and packaging is the best around of the boxes, but I can't pay for that :P It's a shame because it's a lovely idea and again a lovely box. Just stupid how they ask for your details and not use :/

  7. I've seen a few reviews of this box, and only just realised that the sweet says Glossybox. For some reason this made me smile haha :) I'd be happy ish with this box, but only because there are a few brands I've never tried before. I really miss getting a beauty box ;(

  8. Aww you got a better liner shade then me (I got navy :( ) But I think its been getting worse each month. Agree they need to look at the profiles, or look at who their target audience is. I'm in love with my feel unique box, contents was a bit strange but I love the box with the slide draw, plus its cheaper!!! xx

  9. I ALMOST re-subscribed to GB after seeing the pink box and thinking I'd miss out on great products but after seeing what was in the box I am glad I didn't re-sub! Not too impressed with the offerings, except the pink box and cute sweet!

  11. oooh great post hun :) I used to love glossybox then I decided to unsub from it because I got so many products that I just wasn't using! I do recommend feel unique box to a certain extent, if you love skincare then go for it, but I prefer beauty boxes with make up bits instead, so I've unsubbed too! Maybe one day I'll go try the jolie box or carmine :)xxx

    1. Same, I really want to try Carmine, mainly since you can buy it after so you can see if it's worth it, which every one seems to be worth it! And the new launch of Jolie!

  14. I was tempted to re-sub after hearing all of the hype again, but it doesn't seem all that great to me so I haven't. I don't understand how a company can send out a bunch of samples that people have paid for that are HALF FULL (their FB page is full of complaints from customers who got practically Clarins moisturisers! WTF?!). I think you'd like Carmine more to be honest, I've never had any problems with them! x

  15. Glossy box is a constant hit or miss, some months it is soo good and others it is crap. I'd like to see what the carmine box looks like when you get it to see if it's worth converting X

  16. I had the same box as you :( When I opened it the first thing I said was 'is that it?' so disappointed this month. My sister got the Clarins, so jealous!
I'v subbed for Carmine in February and am quite excited! I also love my Jolie Box / Boudoir Prive xx
